This video clip shows the storm surge from tropical storm Dennis during its return trip to eastern North Carolina. The clip shows Highway 12 in extreme eastern Carteret County near Cedar Island. The wind was about 60 to 70 mph and drove the water onshore and over the highway. Dennis clip The next two video clips were taken at Wrightsville Beach during Hurricane Floyd. They were shot at the east end of Atlanta Street facing the ocean. Although it is dark, you can get a feel for how the wind drives the ocean on shore.
