Tropical storm Emily forms in eastern Gulf

One can never trust a cold front draping itself across the very warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico during hurricane season. They can sometimes lead to development and as we have seen this morning, it can happen quickly.

The NHC is issuing advisories on TS Emily, a small but fairly well defined storm just off the coast of Tampa and vicinity. The biggest impact will be from heavy rains and some minor wind issues and maybe a rise in water levels along the surge-prone coastline of western Florida.
